Trencher Progress Report

Haven't had just a whole lot of time since I've been back to work, but I have been able to make a little bit of progress on my unit of trenchers. This is my first attempt at "production line" painting a unit. Rather than work on each individually, I'm painting one color/step at a time across all of the models. Before I started on the unit, I decided to paint a few up individually, just so I would be sure I had a good feel for the color scheme and what I am going after. These ended up being my "reference" figures for the rest of the unit. Here is what they look like:

I've made quite a bit of progess toward getting the rest of the unit painted. I started by putting on the base colors, basically one color at a time across all figures. I've almost have that finished, so the next step is putting on a series of washes: brown ink on the leathers, flesh wash on the hands, face and the leg-wraps, and finally P3 armor wash across all the metallics. The final step will be to blend in the highlights and add any details, and I'm still debating whether or not I will do that in mass production mode. Right now I am thinking I will highlight and touch up each figure individually, just to give them all a final bit of attention. Anyway, here is how my production painted figures look at this stage of the game:

I'd like to start getting my next project primed and ready, but the weather has been alternating between horribly cold and miserably wet, both of which tend to give me less-than-optimal results with spray primer. Here's hoping for some free time and a couple of decent days.
