I'm Baaaaack....
Wow, summer has just flown by. Sorry for the lacks of any posts, but this is the first weekend in seven weeks that I've been home or haven't had company, and let me tell you, it's been nice. The kids are back in school, and besides PAX in a couple of weeks, my vacation plans are pretty much wrapped up for the summer, which means I should have a little more time for painting, playing, blogging, and just relaxing.
If you've been following my blog at all, you know that I've been working on a couple of different 500-point Warmachine armies, with the goal of having them painted and ready to play at PAX. The good news is I'm almost there - I've only got a couple of solos left to go. This weekend I finally finished up my 10-man unit of Mechanithralls and painted a couple of Pistol Wraiths. Here's a look at how those came out:

The 'thralls are a lot of fun to paint. There is something very forgiving about painting the undead - a little sloppiness blends right in. That being said, painting ten-man squads is just a killer for me, although I'm getting better at it. It's not they they are any more difficult, it's just hard to stay engaged through the nights of just painting base colors. I'm not really having fun until I get to the shading and the details. Thankfully, I'm getting steadily faster.
The pistol wraiths (I painted two) were also a lot of fun. They are very simple models, but there is something very elegant about them that just makes them look so cool. Now if I can just get those last two solos painted, I'll be golden.
11 days until PAX.
