Jr. and the Skarlock

I'm getting down to the wire to have both of my armies fully painted before PAX. This weekend I painted up a Skarlock and a Journeyman Warcaster. Having a deadline has been great for my speed, forcing me to move faster than I probably would otherwise. While the models definately aren't my nicest work, I still think they look good enough, and they still look great at tabletop distance.

The Skarlock may be the single most frustrating miniature I've assembled to date (yes, even including the Harrower). That ribbon of magical energy was no end of frustrating. It's too thin to get a pin through, and just begging to get broken off. I used quite a bit of green stuff on the back side to try and reinforce it, and it seems pretty strong now, so I'm hoping it stands up to the test of time. The model itself is really beautiful - it's pretty rare to see such a dynamic pose. It also takes up a huge amount of space for a small base model - I'm curious to see how much it gets in the way.

I picked up some new photo editing software (Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2), which has made cleaning up the images much easier, but I seem to be having a hard time getting a nice JPG export that doesn't look grainy. My apologies for the poor quality while I sort it out.

4 days until PAX.
